Plot summary

When Branch's brother, Floyd, is kidnapped for his musical talents by a pair of nefarious pop-star villains, Branch and Poppy embark on a harrowing and emotional journey to reunite the other brothers and rescue Floyd from a fate even worse than pop-culture obscurity.

'Trolls Band Together' is a better watch than

'Trolls Band Together' is a better watch than 'Trolls World Tour', even if it still makes for forgettable viewing for me. The characters of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake remain likeable leads, they star in a story that is slightly more interesting than last time out. I must say, and this isn't a major deal given these flicks don't exactly aim to be anything more than light family entertainment, that the worldbuilding in these films is rather rubbish. It feels like all three movies are set in differing universes, they look and feel like separate things. That pink eye joke, if only due to Kenan Thompson's part in it as Tiny Diamond, did make me laugh, so at least it produced something. Otherwise, these sequels have fallen flat; not made for me and all that, I know.

Troll again

Branch (Justin Timberlake) and Poppy (Anna Kendrick) are at Bridget and Gristle's wedding when they are interrupted by John Dory. Poppy is surprised that Branch has brothers. It turns out that five brothers were members of a boy band. Brother Floyd has been captured by Velvet and Veneer who are using his essence to improve their performances.Trolls are back. It's more of these brightly-colored characters doing their modern music classic karaoke. There is always a new generation of little kiddies who are entranced by the colors and the music. The parents will find enough to not get bored. Quite frankly, this franchise is like a series of loud drug-induced hazy parties and I don't remember much from the previous ones.

Some Parts Not Child Friendly

While it was a super cute movie for the most part, there were some parts that were definitely not kid friendly. This would include talking about it being "hot" when King Gristle lost his pants at a water park, making out multiple times, talk about bondage by King Gristle and Bridgette, and being unsure how having kids worked between a troll and a bigger creature. Overall, some very uncomfortable scenes when you sit down with your kids, expecting a fun, family movie. I was mostly excited about the *NSync aspect which turned out to just be a very short part at the end. That was extremely disappointing.
