A time traveling cop, Jack Deth, is taken back to the past to be given the task of destroying the Trancer program before it has a chance to get out of control. Helen Hunt again returned to reprise her role as Jack's wife, but it's only a small appearance, as she was beginning the break out as a big television star. Tim Thomerson also returns as Deth and is fine as always. This entry in the series seemed a bit darker than the others and it actually worked quite well for the film and quite well suited the Jack Deth character. If the story had been stronger, this might have been the best entry in the series, though I think the chemistry between Thomerson and Hunt in the original was a major strength of that first film.

A very solid if unspectacular second sequel to

A very solid if unspectacular second sequel to the Trancers saga and the last decent entry sadly. Its the Los Angeles of the future and Jack Deth is sent back in time to destroy the Trancer army at their source. The noir feel of the first in now very much gone and the heavily Terminator 'inspired' flimsy plot has more holes than a fishing net but at just over 70 minutes the film doesn't outstay its welcome. Thomerson is great as ever and he and central villain Andrew Robinson save what could have been a missed effort. Despite all its plotting flaws, campier feel and obvious low budget this remains another very watchable entry in the series. Its shame all the subsequent entries were, well frankly terrible. Probably best to stop watching the Trancers movies at this point, forget entries 4, 5 & 6 exist and retain happy memories of the character and franchise. Jack Deth was and remains a cult sci-fi classic character creation and Thomerson for better or worse will always be chiefly associated with and remembered fondly for it.

Jack Deth has the worst luck. Just when

Jack Deth has the worst luck. Just when he gets one last chance to save his marriage to Lena (Helen Hunt), he gets pulled into time just in time to save Angel City from a Trancer war, but loses thirteen years of his life and loses the love of his life. I mean, Jack has more than one love of his life. Just go with it, you know? Now, the U.S. government is creating their own Trancers, which means that Jack is going to have to get in and shut it down along with help from a soldier that has escaped the program named R.J. (Melanie Smith, Jerry's girlfriend Rachel), a camp escapee and an android named Shark (R. A. Mihailoff, who was Leatherface in the third film and is part of a paranormal group with Kane Hodde and Rick McCullum named the Hollywood Ghost Hunters).
