Plot summary

When an attractive young girl is murdered, suspicion falls on several members of the local tennis club. It falls to Police Inspector Halloran to sort out all the red herrings, and finally after a confrontation at the top of the local church spire, arrest the culprit. Another fascinating look at what life was like in Britain during the 50's.

I swears cars came far to close to

I swears cars came far to close to people a couple times in that movie. Anyway there wasn't a bad actor in the bunch. Coburn was always terrific and John Mills convinced me completely that he was a dedicated yet unlikeable detective who stuck to his guns and got it right in the end.

Great camera work, convincing acting and sharp script

Great camera work, convincing acting and sharp script makes this an enjoyable watch. The ending was a little disappointing for me as I prefer the sleuth to use guile to solve the case. Also denouement and camera angles went a bit awry. But apart from those minor complaints, entertaining movie.
