Plot summary

The story follows 19-year-old Renee who has always loved fairy tales: the idea of a princess, a hero and a happily ever after. But Renee’s life is that of a darker tale: she’s a young woman battling addiction, depression and self-injury. In a creative blend of artistic fantasy balanced with harsh reality, the movie follows Renee on her courageous journey towards recovery.

To Write Love On Her Arms (the foundation) is a huge part of my life and the movie is a beautiful depiction of how the foundation started. The movie brings so much truth and light to the issues of mental illness, self-harm, addiction, but most importantly, hope. The film uses beautiful and accurate images of how music, art, people, and self-belief can truly change lives and bring so much hope into the world. It show how real darkness can be in people's lives and you never truly know what people are going through unless you open your heart and ears to them.

I wish I had seen this movie years

I wish I had seen this movie years ago when a friend was struggling through this issue. Self-harm is not an easy topic to discuss, and this movie does not talk about a friendly subject. Be prepared. But it will help change your attitude and your mind about why people struggle, especially younger kids. This movie was inspiring and it is amazing. Two Write Love On Her Arms (twloha) is an organization I strongly support. Follow them on social media, buy their products, and stand behind them. I do. It will change lives. It could change yours. This movie is amazing. I would highly recommend it.
