@Tired - Instead of trying to place blame on political parties, why not place the blame where belongs, on racial hatred. No, you don't want to do that do you? You want to remain in a perpetual state of denial. I am dealing with the exact same thing myself. A White woman made up God awful allegations against me and took away my career as a Chemist. She couldn't stand taking instructions from a black man. If this had been the 50's, I would probably be dead too. And the bias Orange County Jury went along with her, just like with Emett Till. Although, everyone in the lab said that I never said those things. God Awful things that are horrendus. I am fighting for my life and career, and this is 2023. So, play political party games all you want. But, this racial hatred and racial bigotry exists even today, and America stays in a perpetual state of denial. I am appealing my injustice. Unfortunately, Emett Till cannot. And, that white lady admitted she lied before she died. A little too late. Will, this lady in my case ever admit that she lied. I doubt it. When will this country and people change? Ever? God Rest Emett Till. He is not alone in his suffering, not then, not now.

@CoolCoyote2 - I understand that the truth is hard for some people to swallow. I'm having the same problem myself as a scientist dealing with some jealous white lady who made up god awful horrible lies on me. The system still just accepts it. I'm in the fight of my life for my career now.

ChasUGC and Balerophon are correct about the parties switching. Today's Republicans are the ideological descendants of the Southern Democrats. I mean, just look at the GOP in the South - isn't it obvious? Sheesh.

@byter - Everyone knows that after the civil war, the Democrats swithed platforms. The Southern Democrats, who had all the money after the failed reconstruction, became the Republican party. The continued to build their wealth, from the stolen wages of the slaves and the failed reparations. The party of the people, the Democrats were mostly southerners before the Civil War. After, the Civil War, the Wealthy Southern Democrats, wanted less government ontrol, because they had lost the war. Just like before the Civil War, they didn't want the government to get in their way. Everyone also knows that Mississippi, in the 50's, was probably the most feared and racist state in the union. Just because one last holdouts of the old ways in Mississippi, was a Southern Racist Democrat means nothing.

@byter - ...and if you knew ANYTHING AT ALL about history is that the parties have switched (quite a few times) in what they support and believe in. The Republicans want to "be the party of Lincoln", but in reality the current party is founded on a bunch of Old Party Version SOUTHERN "Democrats" who supported the abhorrent practice of Segregation and Racism, that Carpetbagged their way into the Republican party in order to try and spread the racism and hatred through getting elected as Republicans, as some states voted R when it was like the current Democratic party. But the racists couldn't have that, just like you don't read history, and basically a bunch of pro-segregation racists infiltrated the Republican party, which was then eventually sealed with Nixon's "Southern Strategy" vs the Marginalized groups of the south (Black people and Latin People). The Democrat party back when THIS EVENT ocurred was when it was filled with racists that eventually moved to the Republican party, which you obviously seem to support. So instead of spreading lies on the internet (very transparently uninformed lies, at that) and go actually pick up a history book and learn about your f*cking country. Your ignorance and tribalism just make you look foolish, as this information is readily available to you on the self same internet you spread falsehoods on. Get educated and read a book.
