Plot summary

While Jane Holman is driving with her two sons, she accidentally runs into a drifter, Jack McCloud, who breaks his leg. Being responsible, Jane invites Jack, and his dog, to stay at her home until his leg has healed. Jack struggles to adapt their lifestyle, and finds himself loved by the family.

I caught this movie on tv without knowing

I caught this movie on tv without knowing anything about it probably 30 years ago (I'm 70 now) and I thought it was very charming, romantic, magical and melancholy. I was moved by Patrick Swayze's acting - I don't believe I'd seen him in any other movie before - and his empathetic relationship with the young boy. I've always remembered the film fondly.

Mastrontonio was the saving grace in this movie of poor plot. It careened from realistic to whimsical, with mystical thrown in.
