Thérèse Desqueyroux (2012) Cold and Strange French Romance (12,070 – 18 Nov 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In 1922, Thérèse Larroque (Audrey Tautou) and Annete "Anne" de la Trave (Anaïs Demoustier) are best friends, and their wealthy families are owners of two connected pine forests. In 1926, the free-spirited Thérèse marries Anne’s brother Bernard Desqueyroux (Gilles Lellouche) in a convenience marriage to increase the properties of the families. Meanwhile, Anne falls in love with the Portuguese Jean Azevedo (Stanley Weber) and the pregnant Thérèse is assigned by the family to end their relationship since Azevedo is broken. In 1928, Bernard is prescribed with four drops of arsenic per day, and Thérèse uses the arsenic to poison her husband. Bernard survives, and the life of Thérèse becomes gell on earth. "Thérèse Desqueyroux" (2012) is a cold and strange French romance by Claude Miller. The story is not attractive, and Audrey Tautou is weird in the role of Thérèse Desqueyroux. There is no explanation why Thérèse tries to kill her husband. The actors and actresses have cold performances, and the plot is boring and unpleasant. My vote is five.
