Haven't seen it I years but I thought

haven't seen it I years but I thought of it again today with the passing of Doris Day not to mention Alexander was a hall of fame pitcher who rebuilt his career & help the St Louis Cardinals upset the New York Yankees in the 7th & deciding game of 1926 world series Alexander won 2 games in the series & retired the final 7 Yankee hitters, known as the murderers row,in game 7, including striking outHall of famer Tony Lazzeri with the bases loaded & 2 out in the 7th still one the best relief appearances by a starting pitcher in the history of the World Series the movie is pretty good it's certainly not great but it is based on a true story & it was a nice memory to have today

The Winning Team is a classic 1950s biographical

The Winning Team is a classic 1950s biographical film of baseball hero Grover Cleveland Alexander. Ronald Reagan stars as Alexander and Doris Day shines as his wife Aimee. Alexander was know as Alex the Great, while fighting personal demons such as double vision and fainting spells, and alcoholism. it was his wife that made it possible for him to return to baseball. Doris Day's role is the heart of the film. One of thee best moments in the film is hearing Old St. Nicholas being sung as the Christmas tree is being decorated. The Winning Team is a classic family film.
