Plot summary

Colonel Steve Austin, astronaut and test pilot, is badly injured when he crashes while testing an experimental aircraft. A covert government agency (OSI) is willing to pay for special prosthetics to replace the eye, arm and both legs he lost in the crash. Highly advanced technology (bionics) built into them will make him faster, stronger and more resilient than normal. In return they want him to become a covert agent for the OSI. It will cost $6,000,000 to rebuild Steve Austin.

I was introduced to the series at the Paley Media Center in L.A. many years ago but the episode they had didn’t quite make resonate with me a that moment. After watching the Fall Guy movie last summer, I mentioned to someone that I loved the series as a kid (1980’s), and a close friend recommended the series again… as well as the original Bionic Woman. So I bought the entire series. Remarkable show (probably very expensive to produce) that gives a glimpse into the topics that were relevant in the 1970’s in terms of technology, politics, economics, ethics. Love the characters, too. Great show for kids as well. (Except for the first couple of shows, villains dont die but are brought to justice and neither the Bionic Woman nor the Six Million Dollar Man use guns.)

This was one of the worst TV series

This was one of the worst TV series to be made IMO. During the 1970s American flooded TV networks with series like this. A couple of Stars and a silly script with lots of crash bangs and wollops. Lee majors and his counter part were what this show was about. Their faces on the screen. Lee had the worst denim jacket known to man. Worth watching one episode just to see it
