Plot summary

In 1911, a widow with two children leaves New York City for territorial Arizona and becomes a ranch hand and later gets herself elected sheriff. A gambler and a rancher become rivals for her affections.

140822: Trying to discover what this style of western is called. It's very familiar and I've seen it called "light-hearted", I've seen it called a comedy. If it's a comedy, it's a soft comedy. The humour is there but it's light. There is a slap-stick like finale. Reminds me of the westerns from my youth. They're not violent action films like today. They're not crude. The word "quaint" comes to my. This film is enjoyable quaint and a bit fun. Well worth watching. Disney like, the 70s Disney I mean, not the Lone Ranger Disney.

Cute comedy with Debbie as a widow out

Cute comedy with Debbie as a widow out west trying to make a place for herself and bring her children to live and ending up as sherrif. Helped immeasureably as always by having the great Thelma Ritter in the cast.
