Plot summary

After getting a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter the eerie mansion of the flamboyant, seductive Dr. Frank-N-Furter and a variety of eccentric characters. Through elaborate dance and rock music, the mad scientist unveils his latest creation: a perfect, muscular man.

I think I kind a like Victoria's Susan

I think I kind a like Victoria's Susan. And the opening song was good. But I can’t leave good score if I want to. My ego and my love for the original won’t let me even this remake wasn’t that horrible.

Sadly this version of the movie is horrible

Sadly this version of the movie is horrible, with lack of chemistry and the acting is B rated low grade, I could not even continue to watch it. Loved seeing Tim but this cast just could not step into the warp and fall flat.

Perhaps it is best to watch this remake

Perhaps it is best to watch this remake without too high expectations. It is tame by comparison with the original with this made-for-TV movie lacking the vibrancy and decadence of the original. It is not just the case of a limited budget, as the original certainly wasn’t filmed as a blockbuster … this new outing was just not gritty enough. Tim Curry as the narrator was a highlight. Laverne Cox and Ryan McCartan delivered the strongest performances. The miming by most of the cast was poor, and the ‘audience participation’ was a good concept but lacked the true essence of the cult following experiences for those who attended so many of these sessions. Although Cox is very talented and as mentioned gave a strong performance, I’m not sure a transexual playing a transvestite actually worked? So glad the decision to mark the 50th anniversary saw the original being re-released in theatres.
