Plot summary

Gail and Tom Hartman are struggling to stay together and decide to take a white-water rafting holiday adventure in Montana for their son Roarke's 10th birthday, only to meet up with a pair of mysterious men whose desperation grows, turning their vacation into a nightmare.

I went into this film expecting a story

I went into this film expecting a story about a brave girl, but it turned out to be a suspenseful thriller about a brave woman saving her family. The father, an architect who initially seems like a fragile workaholic, surprises me by revealing a deeply strong, athletic side. He never gives up, consistently trying different survival methods until he finally succeeds. Meanwhile, the seemingly "nice guy" turns out to be the most dangerous threat. Gail is utterly admirable—her absolute control over the raft, her deep calm, and her immense courage under pressure are spectacular. This film serves as a visceral reminder of the raw truth of nature and just how terrifyingly dangerous a river can be.
