Entertaining. This sequel is inferior, but it still has some redeeming qualities. Good cast. Shot mostly in México, with beautiful landscapes and notable photography. The script is okayish, and the direction is serviceable. It wasn’t a film anyone really needed, and there’s even a third one… This horse had way too many races, so to speak.

Okay, who thinks they've got the marbles? The Return of a Man Called Horse. I guess this is the film that I could ever think of while think about all stories that are look like this. Like Pocahontas and Dances with Wolves. Both stories look alike when a man came to visit the native people. I haven't seen the first movie, A Man Called Horse, is the only reputation that could be good than the sequel. When I first watched it I literally remember nothing about this movie except the Native American initiation ceremony scene where John Morgan and the indian's were hung on pin in their chests. Watching it again I knew some scenes in this. Maybe I feel empty inside it? I don't know.

A man will always belong to more than one tribe in his existence Directed by the late Irvin Kerschner the late Richard Harris returns as Lord John Morgan, the man who was captured in 1825 and enslaved yet over time he bonded and grew with the Sioux Indian tribe He went through a rite of passage becoming chief abandoning his aristocratic societal ways 3 years later Morgan returns to England but is shocked to learn that the Sioux have been overrun by another warring tribe as well as other English traders that have set up a stronghold He comes back to his 'true family' and wants to set things right liberating the tribe from the clutches of these traders Even shows the natives new tools and weapons from his original home, sadly the tribe rejects him saying there's no place for him Morgan wants to belong again But first he must cleanse himself proving his soul is worthy by purifying his body and suffer in order to be reborn Plus the tribe awaits supernatural punishment against their enemies To give up hope is to die It's not really until the hour and 45 min mark the attack on the stronghold takes place That really does seem like a long time to get things moving Still the journey of Morgan making his way back is fascinating, he remained a member of the Yellow Hand Tribe until his passing in 1854 But his legend remains forever a part of the Sioux's rich history Yes this movie rehashes a lot of the original but Harris is still a delight to watch The landscape photography is beautiful and the score as well The first movie was way more impacting though
