Plot summary

In this darkly romantic ghost story, a woman travels to an isolated cabin where she is stalked by an apparition who inhabits her space as his own. With the unexpected arrival of the woman’s boyfriend, the dark spirit’s haunting grows obsessive. Soon the woman begins to exhibit weirdly irrational behavior as the thin line between sanity and possession begins to unravel. Is she battling her inner demons, or is a much darker presence threatening them all?

Overall, well done. Particularly because it's not one

Overall, well done. Particularly because it's not one of those stupid, blood and guts horror movies. It's subtle and keeps you guessing , wondering who the silent spirit watching her is. Why is he there, and what awaits the woman, staying in a remote cabin? Really liked that the first 10 minutes of the movie, there's no dialogue, you've got to use your imagination. Ultimately, you begin to question what's real and what's not.

I wanted to like this - I generally like Mira Sorvino - but she just couldn’t carry this. It’s a flat attempt at supernatural horror, and it just didn’t work.

A woman (Mira Sorvino) isolates herself in a cabin on a small island not knowing a spectre inhabits her home. A slow burn that skirts the edges of horror, romance, and mystery yet is none of those. Another of my accidental chamber pieces (I seem to view a lot), Provost directs with restraint and there is little dialogue. Tony Curran deliciously chews the scenery but Justin Kirk as the boyfriend lacked the ability to convince me he wasn't another version of his character on Weeds. The film leaves a lot to viewer interpretation and is, I think, stronger for it.
