Starring the ever-funny W.C. Fields as the beleaguered and eponymous pharmacist, this short has some of the most brilliant gags in Fields's repertoire.

Funny and chaotic, this short exercises some of the more rewarding Fields techniques and the result is sheer entertainment. The recurring routine of the up-and-down stairs that Fields uses again here is one I find hysterical- as he mixes his time between his nagging customers downstairs and his distant family upstairs his antics gets more and more fun to watch. The ending is noteworthy as well- a nonsensical (and pesky) shootout within the store which makes it difficult for W.C. to finish a phone call.
