Plot summary

Heath Freeman (Tru Calling, ER) heads an all-star cast including Clifton Davis (Any Given Sunday) Ben Vereen (Roots), Stacey Dash (Renaissance Man) and Debbie Allen (Fame) in the period drama Soldier of Change, which resurrects the turmoil and confusion of the late sixties. Travel back in time to visit a young man, Randy (Freeman) who finds himself immersed in the impassioned civil rights cause in the States, and struggles valiantly to adjust to the changing social fabric around him. But this is only the first of two worlds that Randy encounters. When he is drafted and shipped off to Asia - and the nightmare that called itself Vietnam - this inexperienced soldier must fight for his life and his convictions as he attempts to survive amid the turmoil of a war whose real nature is alien even to the country fighting it.

Inspirational film. Excellent examples of racial disparities and conflicts of the 1960s... my family and I actually were part the filming in the 1990s it was a wonderful experience. We had the honor to meet Ben Vereen, Clifton Davis, Stacey Dash, as well as Ms. Debbie Allen... I would love it if they made a sequel to this movie... The idea would be that's they would tie-in what's going on in our country today... it's almost like the more things change the more they stay the same. You have to be the change :-)

This was a very moving and realistic portrayal of racism in the sixties, about a young inter-racial couple in the South. Great acting from relatives unknown actors and a compelling story made this one worth the while.

Being both black & white from that era

Being both black & white from that era I loved the sensitivity that let love triumph over hate! I have more than 100 mixed relatives in many shades that prove to me that God didn’t make any mistakes when he made all people His most loved children! DS
