Really slow story with little in the way

Really slow story with little in the way of plot intrigue, so complicated a 10 yr old could keep up. McDowell is beautiful, but her acting skills are limited. In the bedroom, when she's mad at Malkovich's character, her attempt at outrage is laughable. I suggest instead of watching this movie, go out and do ... well, pretty much anything is better than watching this.

It’s a shame this movie has such a low rating among the viewers. I think it’s a bit unfair and I’d like to even it out a little. It’s an intricate enough story about the difference in attitudes and class. So, it’s complex. It’s a combination of social and psychological drama, crime/detective story, comedy and even a touch of suspense and erotica. The characters aren’t pleasant, good or positive enough? Well, is life full of people who are pleasant only? Not exactly. People differ, and much. The film has no moral? It promotes “wrong” values? Please, watch carefully and pay attention to what the creators had to say. The film doesn’t entertain? Well, here… I don’t even know what to say. Art and even showbiz/pop-culture are not here for entertainment only. Does “Guernica” entertain? I’m sorry. It’s sad that I have to write my review via other people’s opinions. But sometimes it happens. They just took me by surprise. Yes, this film is not flawless. But it’s not a disaster for sure. It’s witty, funny, but also melancholic. Yes, the line of Jenny, the housemaid, is probably more clearly drawn. But that’s also logical as Jake (Malkovich) and Tina (MacDowell) need more time to… change their nature? They are spoilt and are used to living beyond their means. Though charming and attractive. They’ve got a lesson to learn, already burnt their fingers. Will they be more careful now? Will they truly be more caring? Only time will tell. We can think of it as an open final.

An interesting movie that toyed with the idea

An interesting movie that toyed with the idea of becoming a tragedy, but at the very end allowed everyone to live happily ever after. Malkovich (young and with hair) and Andie MacDowell are an American couple with no income who live the high life in an upscale London hotel, expecting that it will last until it cannot go anymore. At some point they realize that they own a small sculpture by Henry Moore, which can be sold for a tidy sum of money. Then the object disappears. Unless it is recovered, they may have to face severe consequences. The first part of the movie is like a Charles Bukowski story, at a higher income level and without the racetrack.in the happy ending the protagonists contemplate starting a family.
