Plot summary

Watched this movie several times and I can

Watched this movie several times and I can honestly say, that it is one of my favorite horror-films. It's incredibly scary, with an atmosphere filled with grief, despair and the constant feeling of danger looming ahead. It's also scary as hell because it plays with your primal fears: is there something or someone invisible in your house at night? Watch this movie alone, at night, and you're in for a ride. But this film is not a normal "haunted house" flick. It stands out because it raises a major question: is Beth really haunted by a ghostly presence or is it all in her head; perhaps a mixture of mental illness, alcohol and unfathomable grief? Watch this movie at least twice and ask yourself that question. And let's not forget Rebecca Hall: she is the absolute center of this movie and she's magnificent. She portrays her character, Beth, as a very tough but also incredibly vulnerable woman who has to question everything, even her own sanity. An incredible performance, in my opinion.
