Plot summary

After inheriting a failing bikini shop, two recent grads decide to make a go of it. One, in the hopes of building it into a successful business, the other, in the hopes of getting to look at lots of women in (and out) of swimsuits. As they try more and more outrageous ways of drumming up business, their antics begin attracting some unwanted attention.

Even my bad movie resolve was tested by this movie, which tells the story of Alan (Michael David Wright) and Todd (Bruce Greenwood, who has had quite a film career after this), two charged up fellows who inherit the bikini shop owned by their aunt who has drunkenly jet skiied her way into the world beyond. Alan has a mean fiancee (Debra Blee, who is in Savage Streets and Hamburger: The Motion Picture, two movies you should watch instead of this), the girls they hire to work at the shop are really cool, rich people and cops get in the way of the madcap shenanigans and there's no nudity, but this is called The Malibu Bikini Shop, so that should give you some idea that there is not going to be a lot of bare flesh. I know this may be someone's favorite movie, but as you can tell, it is not mine.

They just don't make movies like this classic anymore. Another movie critics won't understand the originality true uplifting atmosphere this movie creates. A true work of art. Top 100 movie of all-time. 5/5

This movie not only features bikinis galore, but a soundtrack that could only have been done in the glorius 80's. If anyone ever needed to be clear that the eighties in pop media was just FUN FUN FUN, this movie, which utterly flew under the radar to the point of invisibility is one of the best ways to prove it.
