Plot summary

After a global catastrophe, the last man on Earth finds himself questioning his purpose and sanity as both his deceased wife and a mysterious stranger confront him with his past, his present, and whatever future might remain in the wastes of a dead world.

Oh dear God...

The mere title alone for this 2024 horror movie was more than sufficient for me to stop and take notice. And given my love of all things horror, combined with the fact that this was a movie that I had neither seen nor heard about, made me sit down to watch what writer and director Graham Skipper had to offer.Now, I have to say that movies that are written by, directed by and starring the one and the same guy usually does raise a number of red flags for me, so I have to say that I didn't exactly harbor the biggest of expectations to this 2024 movie.The storyline in the movie failed to entertain me, and I tossed the towel in the ring out of sheer and utter boredom when the audience was presented with the bucket scene. I was simply bored to tears at that point. So I made it just past the 30 minute point.Needless to say that I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie. It was a rather small cast ensemble, so there was additional pressure resting on the shoulders of the performers to carry the movie. The acting performances in the movie were okay; nothing outstanding or memorable, nor were they actually bad.This was a swing and a miss of a movie. And it is definitely not a movie that I will return to attempt finish watching.The movie's cover was actually the best thing about the entire ordeal.My rating of writer and director Graham Skipper's 2024 movie "The Lonely Man with the Ghost Machine" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

A deeply spiritual movie

This is a deeply spiritual movie, reflecting on consciousness, life/death, letting go of suffering, the merging of the individual, localized consciousness with AllThatIs or Cosmic Consciousness.Anyone who interprets this from a superficial, material, cinematic point of view, will not have the key to unlock the intended message and be left utterly frustrated.Yes, some scenes are far too long and a bit too "arty-farty" for my personal taste, but the depth of the film makes up for that.It sure isn't easy to pack all that info into a movie, especially with a meager budget, but overall, they did a good job. The script is well developed and congruent, the acting is solid and the feelings expressed are relatable.

The story and opinion:

The story: god sends creatures filled with hunger to eat every living thing. Creatures attack couple, man closes door on wife so he can save himself. Creatures eat everything else. One creature eats all other creatures. Man builds a ghost machine to make spirit of woman become flesh again. It works. Turns out spirit woman made a deal with the last creature to make an endless supply of things to eat: her husband. Out of revenge for closing the door on her.

The opinion: In all of humanity's time on Earth we've never developed such a tech, and now an idiot, in a wooden shack would get the know how, and the components to make this technology?

Also, how would the last person in the world, with no supermarkets around become so fat?
