Plot summary

This colorful adventure tells the story of an impetuous mermaid princess named Ariel who falls in love with the very human Prince Eric and puts everything on the line for the chance to be with him. Memorable songs and characters -- including the villainous sea witch Ursula.

The Little Mermaid is the best Disney animated

The Little Mermaid is the best Disney animated movie ever (along with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King for instance). It's one of my top five favorite movies of 1989 (along with Tim Burton's Batman, James Cameron's The Abyss, Driving Miss Daisy, and Born on the Fourth of July for instance). Many moviegoers and kids will love the 1989 Disney animated classic version of that film. They've got awesome famous songs like Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl, and Part of Your World. I love that movie a lot. It's right before the first CGI animated movie Toy Story (in which it came out in 1995).

Back then an equational return for Disney’s animated transcendence that formally rejuvenated the art form for what it is: Beautifully drawn, whimsically sung and wonderfully performed, with a rightfully tuned story that deviated from its darker source material to remarkable results that thematically refines, though minimally questions, and solidifies the entertaining, feel-good heart.
