Episodic - and frequently wrong (e.g. Stanley Kubrick looked nothing like Stanley Tucci, and Kubrick cast Sellers in Lolita long before Strangelove) - biopic of the very complicated Peter Sellers. Geoffrey Rush does a very good job impersonating not just Sellers, but also several important figures in his life, like his mother Peg and his frequent collaborator Blake Edwards. But for all the technical virtuosity displayed by its creators, the film itself is as empty as its leading man, which results in a strangely frustrating watch.

Geoffrey Rush is miscast - he lacks the charm and charisma that enabled Sellers to get away with his misogynist and self obsessed behaviour. Rush also has a fleshy tired looking complexion with a lumpy nose. Sellers had a boney face and large but slim nose. Immediately after watching the film I watched one of Parkinson's interviews with Sellers. The man was hilarious, multi talented and seductive. I read Michael Sellers' biography decades ago. It was heartbreaking. Peg had created a selfish ego maniac in her son Peter, who would never put any wife or child before himself. I hate to say it, but great artists, musicians, writers and actors are often impossible to live a normal life with. That must never deny them the appreciation of their art. Liz Wickham. Not a bad watch but the film is partially ruined by Peter Sellers having a mild Australian accent (very poor indeed by Rush) throughout the film and for looking mid 50s all the way through the film, even when for much of it Sellers is supposed to be much younger. Rush at least does a good job of portraying as the deeply troubled, neurotic monster he was supposed to be. Good performances from most of the cast otherwise.
