Plot summary

The S. S. Claridon is scheduled for her five last voyages after thirty-eight years of service. After an explosion in the boiler room, Captain Robert Adams is reluctant to evacuate the steamship. While the crew fights to hold a bulkhead between the flooded boiler room and the engine room and avoid the sinking of the vessel, the passenger Cliff Henderson struggles against time trying to save his beloved wife Laurie Henderson, who is trapped under a steel beam in her cabin, with the support of the crew member Hank Lawson.

Pretty by the numbers disaster movie stuff all

Pretty by the numbers disaster movie stuff all around. It's pretty unremarkable overall. There are some cool effects of sinking the ship where it looks like there actually in the ocean doing it which is pretty cool actually. Outside of that this has all the problems of the cliches of this genre even going back to 1960. The characters are boring and generic save for Strode. Stack's family subplot could've been cut completely as it feels completely seperate until the end. However, ouside of that this would feel like watching a dry documentary of a ship sinking. There really isn't much emotion most of the time or anything deep. There also is no music at all which contributes to the dryness. This is very predictable and by the book the entire way while being basically a Night to Remember rip off. Just without the sharpness of that movie. Unless your a die hard fan of any actors in this, most people can skip this.

Movie is suspenseful, with good performances. The early

Movie is suspenseful, with good performances. The early scenes remind me of The Poseidon Adventure And I like the " you are there realism " as movie was shot on real ship, Stunning action with great practical fx as real ship was partially sunk, flooding huge rooms. I was surprised there was almost no musical score,

I little melodrama but the special effects are

I little melodrama but the special effects are great. All is filmed on an actual ship that was going to salvage yard. Holds up and the tight 90 minutes works.
