Somewhat a unique case here: you think of a time you'd like to reminisce, then find a film that tackles a similar period and wondering to find some sort of an insight to grapple an understanding in those questionable gaps you might have. Wondering how the spent time should've gone would join the reminiscing thoughts. Netflix's so-called originality "The Last Summer" perceptively sympathized the abstract thinking, only to find it disjointedly unrealistic defined by stereotypical tropes with rare considerable moments. The eponymous seasonal vacation is termed by high school graduates looking to fulfill any sort of final chances in their supposed last months of freedom before heading off to college, which therefore begins their adulthood. As per your ordinary interconnected storylines, though frequented by little, a group of friends focused on navigating relationships in pursuing some and re-examining others. Each plot tackles certain topics from inappropriate "bucket" list and infiltrating over lied age to usual romance and facing reality with a true calling. A few you'd quietly applaud for, and a few you'd find amusement, but the rest doesn't seem to connect nor relate. If so, then it's indifferent to earlier scenarios that were already played out with occasionally better results. Minus the fact that these characters are merely compositions of those other figures, most of their events play out of insignificance, with exceptions to only a few that are worth engaging. One plot finds two outcasts in the lower chain lying about their age when realizing it is too late in a place they wouldn't normally go to unless dressed for it, how it plays out is good-natured but frankly improbable. Another finds a working-class young woman in a babysitting gig throughout the summer who only has one last chance of pending college acceptance while giving her client's kid childhood fulfilment, with both reaching satisfying outcomes with a truer message at a range. Then finally a rising film student decided to dedicate her summer working on her project, hooked up with a techno music mixer per his persistence till his dreadful discovery triggers generic drama between them with an outer twist. The whole picture tends to find sympathetic angles with one left unanswered and another comedically resolved. The rest of the forgettable roster by specific applications are culminations of performative embodiments embracing tropes with stereotypical perspectives that were mostly done by everyone else. While not without any sort of charisma, the showcases only built the young cast by little with small filmographies prior to this experience that supposedly intrigues those who seek this over the titularly descriptive premise. That may've been intuition, but it should've gone instinctually more based on personal experiences rather than pretensions. Otherwise, the final product only turned out bland with rare, noteworthy moments to recognize the struggles they face as proof of how ready they are to face adulthood. The statement alone defines where "The Last Summer" is placed among its associative genres behind superior exemplars where captivated relatability actually applies. (B-)

I cannot believe I come across a film

I cannot believe I come across a film made by Netflix in general which is a rom com again and I am forcing myself to review it with extreme prejudice. But hey, there's no backing out now. I went into this thinking I'm in a mood for a rant but there's literally nothing about this movie for me to rant on which is really something because I thought I would make you guys laugh with my hilarious choice of words I would put out but aside from that, nothing about it just makes me scream my rants out 'cause there's literally no point for me to do so. The story, there isn't one. There no story in it at all. Actually, it's just literally a pack of stories being smush together into one with a pack full of characters in multiple stories in one movie which I think, yeah, I've seen that kind of stuff before and I don't mind but this one really bored me. I didn't crack a single laugh out of my own body. This shouldn't be considered a romantic comedy, It should be considered a romantic drama because that's what this movie is, a romantic drama. An interconnected group of recent high school grads navigates through personal issues while enjoying their "last summer" before moving on to college. That's about it. I remember the part where somebody ask a woman about which movie they're going to watch in the cinema and he just recommends Fifty Shades of Grey. Yeah, a romantic film for couples who are in a mood a chick flick, an erotic one and that. But did that ever happen? Nope, they decided to go and watch The Big Lebowski. Now I know I've seen worse films quite recently like romantic films that are so bad and one of the worst in my point of view and I know one of them which p***ed me off are gonna be watched by somebody in my presence as a kid distractor and a student distractor but this one didn't p***ed me off as I thought it would be due to my knowledge where I know what people are like in real life when it comes to terrible human beings like my ex's. This is just stupid. And that's literally what this is, it's stupid, it's pointless. And when the ends abruptly in the way I didn't expect for it to end like that when it comes to them finishing their stories, it just stops. This one does it abruptly out of nowhere. The Last Summer is a generic romantic comedy drama is something that just bores me in a way I thought it is gonna be worse but not what I thought it would be. I gotta say I would like to watch this again but due to what I have seen right now, I think once is enough for me. Not the worst but definitely pretty bad. ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐
