Video game expert Alex Rogan finds himself transported to another planet after conquering the video game The Last Starfighter, only to find out it was just a test. He was recruited to join the team of best Starfighters to defend their world from the attack.
Great movie and for those who didn't know, the Director: Nick Castle was the Shape in Halloween 1978. The original Michael Myers. Granted, Carpenter, and Debra Hill also wore the mask in the movie for scenes.
I agree, I downloaded this and it is grainier. I compared a fram at 44:45 where alex is clear in the image and it is grainy in this version! My original 1080px_2664 is like glass compared to t his sandpaper!
Registered_User I don't know where you came up with those facts, but they are completely wrong. The movie was a flop yes, but it didn't change history in any way. Cannon Group with their crazy Ninja and action exploitation movies are the ones who taught Hollywood to focus more on the rental market. As for CGI. While this movie and Tron before it were groundbreaking, they looked so plastic and fake and were so prohibitively expensive and tedious to produce and render that they were nothing but short-lived experiments. It's the liquid terminator in T2 that showed ILM that creating photo realistic effects with computers was possible, and nearly a decade after Last Starfighter, Jurassic Park changed Hollywood and special effects forever.
Does anyone know if on certain DVD releases the scene of Alex doing repairs around the trailer park while the other kids go off to have fun or what not is missing? The DVD runtime is 96 minutes and the movie is supposed to be an hour and forty one minutes long.
I agree with radiopal, this film is a popcorn flick meant for pure fun. As far as whether it is worthy of honor whence compared to other larger budget flicks, I think that would be quite unfair in this case. Besides, the storyline is what is important. Like as in a movie like "2001 A Space Oddyssey, of which didn't exactly have alot of bells and whistles, but had an original and rather ingenius storyline
