Plot summary

After a psychopath murders a man who was on his way to a job as a deputy sheriff in a small California town, he assumes the deputy's identity and arrives in town to start his new 'job'. What he doesn't know is that the recently appointed sheriff and his mistress are plotting to murder her evil husband—and blame it on the new deputy.

This is very very slow noir style film

This is very very slow noir style film centers around a sherrif of a small town who plost with the wife of a prominent businessman,and pin it on the newly just arrived deputy..the problem is the deputy isn't who he claims to be and has his own reasons for wanting the husband dead.

A woman and her lover have their plan

A woman and her lover have their plan to kill her husband thrown off the rails when a man who assumed the identity of the new sheriff's deputy does it first leading to fingers being pointed. Decent suspense film. In a rare turn of events, Joe Don Baker's character is the most trustworthy in the film.
