Plot summary

A fugitive, dangerous madman reaches an English village where he confronts his former partner who left him for dead in the jungle after their discovery of a diamond mine. When the former partner also claims to have since lost the mine and all its wealth, which he took all for himself, and though the partner is still living in a state of luxury , the madman takes up an offer from a crazed scientist to make him invisible, something the scientist has already done with experimental animals, so that he can take revenge.

You know on it's own it's a half

You know on it's own it's a half decent Sci-Fi crime movie. But following in the footsteps of the previous entries especially the first two, there just isn't anything new here at all that hasn't been done before or done better multiple times at this point. It's half decent all around but it's just a feeling of deja vu throughout. The special effects are pretty good though. Jon Hall isn't bad but he's no Claude Rains or even Price. The whole dart scene was so stupid and a waste of a good chunk of runtime. This really isn't scary at all and the comedy which is limited but still here is flat at best. The direction isn't bad but nowhere near Whale's. The final 25 minutes or just gets a bit muddled as well but it works enough. Overall I'd say skip this. If you've seen the first two or even just the first than you've seen this basically. There isn't much here.

The last serious Invisible Man movie until The

The last serious Invisible Man movie until The 1990's makes the audience truly hate the villain and makes The Invisible Man out to be the monster he truly can be. Jon Hall plays a terrific bad guy and although the ending leaves the audience satisfied, the movie's plot gives a rather a dumb reason for Hall to make himself invisible.

After leaning more to a romantic comedy with the previous "Invisible Movies", returning to having the invisible person be the monster is a solid idea. If you were keeping up with the previous entries of this franchise, this movie will be particularly confusing. Despite having the last name "Griffin", there is no connection to the previous invisible people. To add to the confusion, Jon Hall returns from "Invisible Agent" but as a completely different person. This time Jon Hall is a man seeking for titular revenge. He is trying to get back at criminals who twice tried to have him killed and stole all his gold. The movie forgets about this plot point and paint these murderous criminals as the good guys. When Jon Hall finally gets the key to his revenge, that being his invisibility, he acts the way a little kid would act if he were invisible. The first thing he does is go up to the man he wants revenge against and says, "Look at me, I'm invisible!". He then wants to marry the man's daughter. The dad says that she won't date any invisible people. So Jon Hall decides to become visible again. This invisible man is an idiot, he might be the most pathetic of all the Universal Monsters. There's a major plot point where he explains how he is more terrified by a dog than anything else in the world. The effects are still good, and the movie is undeniably a lot of fun to watch and laugh. But other than that, there is little to see here.
