Simply put, I flippin love this movie.. it grabs a hold of you and doesnt let go for one hour thirty nine minutes!!! Freakin intense for 1967

A variety of unhappy commuters happen to catch

A variety of unhappy commuters happen to catch the same late-night subway train and - at protracted length (this could have easily lost half-an-hour) are subjected to taunts and bullying by a couple of low lifes climaxing inevitably and predictably in a final act of violence. It's all very wordy and airless. The screenplay is awful, the acting (mostly) pitched too high, and the violence when it arrives over-choreographed. Just think what a Tarantino or Scorsese might have done with this premise. Not good.

The leads are so over the top, it's

The leads are so over the top, it's ridiculous. The whole movie allows each of the characters to cut loose with histrionics in their own little scene. Neat to see Ed McMahon in a dramatic role, though.
