The Immortalizer is an era piece that seems to embody the “because we can” mentality of certain film productions—lavish budgets, ambitious concepts, but little focus or coherence. From the very beginning, the movie feels like a tumble down a hill that never ends: it starts off unsteady and continues rolling without pause, unable to recover any narrative momentum or credibility. The director appears to have abandoned any effort at structure, letting the chaos unfold without meaningful control. The characters and creatures populating the film are bizarre, over-the-top, and frankly unconvincing. Faces, costumes, and makeup are pushed to extremes, but the effect is more laughable than terrifying. Instead of feeling like a deliberate artistic choice, the visuals come across as self-indulgent and poorly integrated, failing to support the story or elicit genuine engagement. Screenwriting is another glaring weakness. Plot points are scattered and incoherent, character motivations are nonexistent, and narrative arcs collapse under their own weight. The film doesn’t just wander—it careens without direction, leaving viewers stranded in a world that seems constructed without any consideration for internal logic or audience investment. There’s no development, no tension, no stakes, and certainly no emotional resonance. Directorial decisions only exacerbate the issues. Scenes linger without purpose or jump abruptly without transitions, creating a jarring rhythm that makes it difficult to stay focused. There’s no sense of pacing, no narrative peaks or valleys—just a relentless forward roll that tires more than it entertains. Even technical elements like cinematography, lighting, and editing fail to bring cohesion, leaving the entire production feeling hollow and disorganized. Ultimately, The Immortalizer is an exercise in squandered potential. It exemplifies what happens when budget and ambition collide without discipline, vision, or storytelling skill. The result is a film that is as exhausting as it is unmemorable, leaving little for viewers to latch onto beyond confusion and frustration. In conclusion, this is a project I cannot recommend under any circumstances. Its combination of chaotic direction, incoherent screenplay, and ridiculous visual choices makes it an almost unwatchable experience. Even with curiosity or nostalgia, it fails to deliver anything remotely satisfying.

Woah Nelly! It seems I've been on quite

Woah Nelly! It seems I've been on quite a tear lately of dumpster fire movies. I mean, goddamn.... It's hard to criticize it too much, since I'm not sure anyone was taking this cartoon seriously in the making of it. I just wish if it were going to be such a trainwreck, that it was a bit more fun...

I went into this movie thinking it was

I went into this movie thinking it was a Charles Band Full Moon Production, but I was surprised when I didn’t see his name in the credits. I remember the VHS cover art looking exactly like the memorable Full Moon boxes during their Paramount distribution deal heyday, with vibrant colors and depicting something either violent or titillating on the cover. THE IMMORTALIZER wants to be a RE-ANIMATOR knockoff based on the box, following the story of a mad scientist who kidnaps beautiful young folks off the street (using his zombie musclemen, of course) so he can sell eternal youth to old folks who want their minds transfer these young nubile bodies. It’s not a bad setup for a cheesy direct-to-video horror movie, but this one is total amateur hour. Most of the film is one of the young people running around, hiding, and trying to escape the evil scientist’s house/clinic. Boring, not funny, not scary, and not even all that gory. There wasn’t even any nudity, which is a shock given that one of the cast members was a Playboy Playmate. Stick with Charles Band cheapie horror flicks like SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-O-RAMA or ASSAULT OF THE KILLER BIMBOS, and don’t bother with this one.
