What whas this all about? Nothing, is the answer. Maybe somebody can anal-yze this, but I can not, for sure.

This had the potential to be a truly great film. The cast is brilliant - Stamp AND Hurt (though Roth overacts, as usual), but the ending feels contradictory, rushed and unconvincing

I wanted to like this movie because the title music written by Roger Waters and Eric Clapton is great. Likewise, Paco De Lucia, who wrote the soundtrack, is phenomenal. And his music for the film is great. It's just distractingly applied. For example, for a car scene in Spain they play Flamenco music Mr. De Lucia wrote. But the music is too loud and its upbeat tempo is distracting because it doesn't really fit the scene. The music supervisor stinks. No fault of Paco. The directing. Wow. Remarkably terrible. Here's a scene from the beginning of the movie. An ex-cop, who is also a bodyguard, stands in the middle of a dirt road. Why? Because he doesn't know how to fix a slipped chain on a bicycle. A speeding car approaches him carrying his kidnapped employer. Why is the car speeding? We don't know. The kidnapping is done without firing a shot and with no witnesses. How does the bodyguard know his boss in the car? Perhaps because the only cars allowed on this particular dirt road belong to his boss? We don't know. Perhaps he's psychic. Whatever. He stands in the middle of the road and fires a handgun at the approaching car and... wait for it. He misses. Doesn't hit the windshield or the grill or the tires. Just misses. And, happily, the car runs over him. Why is an ex-cop and bodyguard a terrible shot? We don't know. Perhaps he's also blind. Why would he shoot at a car if he knew is boss was inside? Because, obviously, he's a moron who doesn't know how to fix a slipped chain on a bike who would gladly kill his employer to save him. Why did he let the car run over him? No reason. Wanted to know what it felt like, I guess. The acting. Atrocious. Example: Blond-haired bad guy has a British accent that sounds like he learned from watching Monty Python. I kept expecting him to bust out with "I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK..." He bares his teeth. He says stupid things. He over acts. Pick from a list of things bad actors do and he does them. I could go on. Each scene is filled with implausible scenarios, clunky lines, bad acting and atrocious directing. A good use for this movie would be to play it at midnight movies and have the audience throw popcorn, soda and rotten tomatoes at the screen. Don't waste your time on it. But do listen to the title music and soundtrack -- just without the movie.
