Plot summary

A group of people from different backgrounds have one thing in common: when they hear the world "gumball" whispered by one of the others, they know that it's time for the Gumball Rally: a no-holds barred, secret, winner-take-all rally across the USA.

Catastrophically stupid movie that is okay if you

Catastrophically stupid movie that is okay if you can put your mind on idle. But you really do have to put your mind on idle, because this movie is dumb. Cross country race with people that don't seem to be very intelligent. I mean, you have one of the racers getting new tires about 100 miles into the race, even though it's just highway driving. In the end, it just tries too hard. It's trying to force this levity and comedy on you, and it's just that, forced

What makes me love this film is the

What makes me love this film is the simplicity. The stars of the movie are the AC Cobra and the Ferrari Daytona and the film is smart enough to not get in the way.

This was a car movie, as opposed to

This was a car movie, as opposed to a Burt Reynolds’s showing off movie. Nothing wrong with Burt. I think his best movie was White Lightning. But that’s kind of a car movie too. The ones who don’t like this movie probably don’t like LeMans either. Or Grand Prix or Winning. Or Ford vs Ferrari. The AC Cobra was the star of the Gumball Rally. And an unknown at the time Gary Busey wrecking a Camaro is kind of cool to see. At least I didn’t know who he was in 1976. What’s behind me isn’t important.
