Mary had a feud with Lillian Hellman. She wrote Julia with Vanessa Redgrave but it was imaginary. There never was a living Julia except in Lillian's imagination. Mary took on the Lesbian plot that Lillian wanted to use in These Three and The Children's Hour with Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine. She wrote the same story twice and Mary was correct as everything Lillian wrote was imaginary.
