Plot summary

It's 1933, and eight young women are friends and members of the upper-class group at a private girl's school, about to graduate and start their own lives. The film documents the years between their graduation and the beginning of the World War in Europe, and shows, in a serialized style, their romances and marriages, their searches for careers or meaning in their lives, their highs and their lows.

Men totally dominated the world in the 1930s and women would never be considered equals. Through this film, you see all the hopes and dreams of the women crushed by men in various ways.

Is this a good movie? No. But it

Is this a good movie? No. But it certainly is an entertaining soap opera, filled with hysterics and overwrought melodrama. I almost want to give this five stars. Hard to believe that the same director would later make 'Dog Day Afternoon.' Oh, it's worth watching just to see a young Jessica Walter (Lucille Bluth on Arrested Development).
