Plot summary

When the champ's promoter, Rev. Sultan, decides something new is needed to boost the marketability of the boxing matches, he searches and finds the only man to ever beat the champ. The problem is that he isn't a boxer anymore and he's white. However, once Rev. Sultan convinces him to fight, he goes into heavy training while the confident champ takes it easy and falls out of shape.

This surprisingly humorous satire targets racism, specifically in professional boxing, and showcases how it has been packaged and sold back to the population to divide, entertain, and enflame emotions, all with the goal of making the biggest profit for whoever is doing the selling. Peter Berg and Jamie Foxx probably got the most laughs from me but the quality of this cast definitely was a surprise. This won't be a memorable film or one I'd likely rewatch but the short run time made for quick and diverting comedy that definitely, and sadly, did not feel over 25 years old. Samuel L. Jackson Binge: Jackson and the costume department must have had a blast here, with his outfits and hair styles what I will likely most remember about this movie. His character, the stereotypical bombastic and unaplogetically self serving boxing promoter, also looked pretty fun to play and is a role it is easy to imagine Jackson taking to quite easily and excelling at. Just rediscover this hidden 90's comedy gem that

Just rediscover this hidden 90's comedy gem that reminds me why 90's film are the best. It's just a situational comedy that lampoons the sport of boxing, sports marketing, the race card, and 90's celebrity worship. Sounds heavy but its not it just a fun spoof that takes shots at everyone! The critics can take a hike with their reviews. Sometimes a movie is just there for you to lighten up. Cast is great with Wayans and Goldblum but also a young Jamie Fox, John Rhys-Davies and many small screen famous faces. But Samuel Jackson is the best and is nothing but fun in this film. Great performance.

EASILY one of the most underrated comedies/movies of

EASILY one of the most underrated comedies/movies of all time. Really, darkly hilarious with an all-star cast. Not sure what all the critical are talking about. Great White Hype also aged remarkably well for a 30 year old comedy.
