Plot summary

A successful artist recalls his life in the tenements of the Glasgow slums. In flashback his recalls the events and characters he shared with in a slum tenement building.

A series of downtrodden stories from a downtrodden area of Glasgow. It's not as relevant to a modern audience as it probably was when it was made, but it's a good time-capsule in this respect.

Strange ending with the artist going a bit

Strange ending with the artist going a bit weird. But interesting reflection of Glasgow tenement living where characters just seem to be thrown together and living in each others pockets. Imagine that guy not posting his winning football pools cos he bought his wife a fish supper

Dire and unrealistic representation of life in the

Dire and unrealistic representation of life in the Gorbals. The slums are too clean; the accents terrible (possibly to aid the audience who may have struggled with authentic Gorbals) Dialogue stilted and contrived. Give it a miss.
