Story can be a bit hard to follow in spots but with the eye candy of Virginia Mayo, the acrobatics of circus pals Burt and NIck plus some big-budget Hollywood magic it's hard to fault the overall product for escapist entertainment. Good clean family fun with the usual bloodless battles and derring do in the same vein as Lancaster's later swashbuckler, The Crimson Pirate. No CGI here, just great sets and nicely done matt paintings that are hard to spot. How they staged the big set pieces to produce these epics is truly a wonder.
