Plot summary

A crack test pilot lands to find the planet has been devastated by unknown forces. There are a few survivors, so he organizes them in a plan to ward off control by a group of killer robots.

An engaging cheezy production that is suspenseful, if you let it. A few script gaps but worth a watch. Not complicated or full of meaningful messages, just an early sci-fi made on a low budget with a simple story. If they'd had the money it could have been fleshed out to be more robust with a richer storyline. I enjoyed it, a refreshing break from our complicated world while just maybe being given a pause to think if we really appreciate it.

This must have been released with multiple titles, because about one minute in I recognized the scene of the empty English village, but in the cut I saw a while back the opening scene was of a test pilot flying a jet. That was all stock footage and it's missing from the film I just clicked on. So, I'll recap my review of the other cut: cheesy low budget with unconvincing "special" effects that aren't even special by 1960's standards, a lousy script, and poor acting. If you've got an hour to kill, consider it dead and buried.

Starts with a bang but quickly fizzles. The budget is low and it shows in the limited sets and effects. The unarmed robots move at a snails pace, as do the human zombies, and neither look particularly alert. The story kind of meanders as if the writer didn't know where to go with it. But at least the pacing was good. Some of the acting was fine too which makes it watchable.
