Plot summary

A couple's romantic getaway turns deadly when the girlfriend's obsessive ex arrives. He's a wanted criminal who will kill to protect his secret. The couple becomes hunted, fighting for survival against the murderous ex-boyfriend.

Damn it, Henry...

I have to be honest here and admit that I harbored very little expectations to this 2022 movie titled "The Deadly Getaway" when I stumbled upon it here in 2025. The movie's cover just wasn't exactly one that oozed with the worth of stellar entertainment. But since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen before, of course I opted to watch it and give it a fair chance.Writers Eric Dickens and Chad Quinn put together a script and storyline that wasn't exactly top notch. But at least it was semi-watchable for what it turned out to be, if you don't mind a bland and generic narrative.Needless to say that I was, of course, not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. But in all honesty, I will say that the acting performances in the movie were actually fair."The Deadly Getaway" is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing, nor is it a movie that I would recommend for you to rush out, track down and get to watch. It just simply wasn't particularly great.My rating of director Charles Jones's 2022 movie "The Deadly Getaway" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Deadly Getaway

I wanted to see "The Deadly Getaway" because of Jason Weaver. I like his acting on the CHI series. The storyline could've been better. You rent a cabin, trailer out in the country; your girlfriend's ex shows up; you've never met him. The first time you meet him, you get bad vibes. Why not just leave; but you wanted to go on the trip to the country. You go to the outhouse; you hear noises; you're a man you get scared; why not just leave? TUBI has a lot of different movies, but so many of them seem like they've been rushed and put together. I see movies with a mostly black cast I try to check them out; more thought needs to be put into the storylines.
