I caught this on a TV channel one

I caught this on a TV channel one afternoon, and actually ended up enjoying most of it. All right, so the budget is limited, and the basic mcguffin - prove the "value" of humanity or everyone dies - is a difficult thing to pull off well. But the cast and script do a decent job, there are some nice moments and some neat stunts. Bug Hill gives a convincing and considered exposition performance as the male alien, and C Thomas Howell pulls a nifty double work session as both lead and director.

As a retake of the classic "The Day

As a retake of the classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still", I thought this film had some great moments, some superb acting at times, but fell way short of what it could have been, due mostly to some very bad WRITING and direction (and inconsistent thinking) that kept invading an otherwise great story. Overall, I liked it.
