Plot summary

Constance Bailey is a no-nonsense detective who prefers to work alone. When a high-profile CEO is murdered on the eve of his company’s corporate event in Malta – a high-stakes ballroom competition between senior executives – Detective Bailey is sent undercover as one of the contestants. The only problem? She can’t dance. To convincingly compete, she must team up with charismatic and free-spirited performer Sebastian Moore. But with a killer on the loose and a growing list of suspects, it’s going to take more than a little fancy footwork to solve this case.

Huge fan of Lacey Chabert / Will Kemp

Huge fan of Lacey Chabert / Will Kemp previous pairings in Hallmark movies. This is another winner for them. The dancing is terrific, the repartee perfect, and the island of Malta is stunning. As often said in reviews of their movies, there is a delightful special chemistry between them.

This is a nod to classic detective pairings

This is a nod to classic detective pairings - Jonathan & Jennifer Hart and Stuart & Sally McMillan are even mentioned in the movie. It's a cut above, not just for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, but for many offerings on TV today. This has a retro-glam feel with some comedy and mystery thrown into the mix. Will Kemp is glorious. A clever comedic actor, a wonderful dancer who oozes charm. Lacey Chabert is great in the role whether she's being the more serious detective, loosening up and becoming more lighthearted or dancing in beautiful dresses. She and Will Kemp are a wonderful pairing. The dance scenes are sublime, in particular a tango rehearsal in water and a dream sequence in black & white. The scenery, clothes and cars are reminiscent of the gorgeous high-impact glamour of classic 1960s movies like To Catch a Thief. I'm not sure how they could incorporate dancing in future installments, but I sure hope they try. I loved everything about it.
