Plot summary

When a mysterious gateway between dimensions unleashes a horde of nasty little creatures into Vuokatti Ski Resort, Zach and his friends’ dream holiday takes a turn for the terrifying. What was supposed to be an epic party—filled with sex, drugs, rock ’n’ roll, and Hollywood legend Christopher Lambert—spirals into pure chaos as the Creeps run wild. Now, Zach must rise to the occasion, battle the pint-sized terrors, and prove that being a hero isn’t so different from the ‘80s movies he worships.

A passion that shows Yes, you can nitpick

A passion that shows Yes, you can nitpick the effects and some of the cheesy writing, but this is a passion project, and you can tell it has a lot of heart. The constant 80s references peppered throughout is welcome to the nostalgia-trippers out there and it does not take itself too seriously. The plot is, in typical 80s fashion, nearly incoherent, but that's ok, because it still works, and it has fun with what it is.

American Pie Meets Gremlins...But Dumber.

The Creeps is a Finnish Christmas horror film that is essentially a combination of American Pie and Gremlins, with a little Fade To Black thrown in.Albeit the worst of all those worlds.It's target demographic seems to be 12-13 year olds, because it's too childish for anyone older, and too graphic for anyone younger.Despite a plethora of references to the 80s and 90s.The Creeps are kind of cool, when they aren't CGI...I'll give it that.But, otherwise, the whole thing is pretty dumb.Too dumb for my particular taste.It does have some fleeting moments of cool gore.But definitely needed more to win me over.If you are a pubescing teenager, it might be worth a watch.But I'd say for everyone else it's a hard pass.If only because there are a handful of much better Scandanavian Christmas horror films you could opt for.3.5 out of 10.
