The print I saw was only 68 minutes

The print I saw was only 68 minutes, but even that seemed too long. If you took out all the frames of Frank Keenan doing nothing but looking stern you could whittle this film down to 40 minutes. The 1915 movie goer probably found this movie rather impressive, but modern audiences might find it a bit dull. Not much really happens.

As a movie it's a hoary old chestnut

As a movie it's a hoary old chestnut but as an historical document it's fascinating. The damage to the print actually adds to the filling that you're watching a series of Matthew Brady daguerreotypes come to life.
