Plot summary

An eccentric marketing guru visits a Coca-Cola subsidiary in Australia to try and increase market penetration. He finds zero penetration in a valley owned by an old man who makes his own soft drinks, and visits the valley to see why. After "the Kid's" persistence is tested he's given a tour of the man's plant, and they begin talking of a joint venture. Things get more complicated when the Coca-Cola man begins falling in love with his temporary secretary, who seems to have connections to the valley.

A bit of a cultish-wanna-be movie, too in love at how smart it is. A coca cola rep decides to fight for the last Australian Territory that doesn't have the wonder drink. From there, it really just goes everywhere. A mess.

As a kid I'd go to the video

As a kid I'd go to the video store often. Unlike most, I didn’t usually follow a plan and would have to look at every video in the place before I chose one (and now people know how I know so much about movies and excel at movie trivia.) One title I often came across but never rented was The Coca Cola Kid, I'd never seen this until now. In the end, I felt this was kinda disappointing. The originality was good, and a movie about Coca Cola marketing was interesting for a bit, but there came a point where it lost direction and made me realize it never really had good direction. The ending was just... what was this about? Coke satisfies, so I might turn it on again. For some reason I always though this was about a teenage kid but.. the ‘Coca Cola Kid’ wasn’t even a kid, he was a grown ass man who was an ex-Marine in Australia on an assignment for Coca Cola. The 80's were weird, man, but I can see why younger self never grabbed this off the shelf at the video store.
