I think the aesthetics and the music are

I think the aesthetics and the music are the main draw. The premise and the script are very questionable, and the characters often do so many absurd things that it's impossible not to roll your eyes. However, the chemistry of the cast and the vibes of that era make the story fade into the background. It's a teen cliché, yes, but it's "the Disney Channel teen cliché of the 2000s." I think the aesthetics and the pacing won't leave you indifferent. They're teenagers, of course they were going to act absurdly, but they undergo an evolution that will make you forgive all the mistakes. Between mediocre jokes and a weak script, the music works in favor of this decade. Although they're overly pretentious and wrapped up in an implausible story (the mother was the most reasonable one), the Cheetah Girls have all the makings of a youth icon of that time. I don't know, my teenage years weren't in the 2000s...

I remember the live premiere of this and

I remember the live premiere of this and didn't enjoy it much. This was the end of the golden dcom era. They started focusing on making bad pop stars with cheesy lyrics instead of clever or meaningful plot lines. This was the beginning of that spiral. Watching it now as an adult I still felt the same way. Nothing meaningful about this film. The obnoxious inspirational lyrics are obvious and untrue. These girls didn't care about music. The entire movie was about how thirsty they are to be famous and rich. Not about loving music and wanting to be part of the industry. It was all about fame and that's a bad take away from a young adult film. There was no passion. Just bad clothing, cringe lyrics and annoyingly whiney and vengeful characters. The only redeeming factor is Ravens character not selling out and wanting to make her own music even if she doesn't get a contract.
