Plot summary

Barney Greenwald, a skeptical lawyer, reluctantly defends an officer of the navy who took control of the Caine from its captain, Lt. Philip Francis Queeg, while caught in a violent sea storm. As the court-martial proceeds, however, Greenwald increasingly questions if it was truly a mutiny or rather the courageous acts of a group of sailors who could not trust their unstable leader.

A master filmmaker makes his last film a riveting watch filled with great performances. Lance Reddick does more with his eyes than most actors can with their whole body. I hate the poster though. Keifer's earrings are too big.

FULL SPOILER-FREE REVIEW @ https://fandomwire.com/the-caine-mutiny-court-martial-venice-film-festival-review-a-satisfying-farewell-to-william-friedkin/ "The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial might not be the greatest farewell for William Friedkin, but the one-location court session is one of the purest forms of cinema, boasting satisfying levels of tension as well as quick, intense dialogue elevated by exceptional performances from the entire cast, namely Kiefer Sutherland. A viewing that flies by, despite the repetitive, predictably ambiguous structure that doesn't always fit into the study of the dichotomy between "good" and "evil". Still, it remains captivating from start to finish." Rating: B-

Very Watchable, But Should Be a Stage Play

I love the echoey, stark sound of the set....masterful. It shows how these things actually are on occasion. As a former military officer who sat on two courts martial, one was held in a small office, one was held in an actual courtroom that echoed eerily like this set.It was refreshingly taut, and my gut was taut as well during the entire production.....bravo on that point. When these types of proceedings occur, people's lives are irretrievably altered...whether for good or ill.And the lack of music was awesome! Real life has no soundtrack......I thought the lighting was accurate, and the whole atmosphere felt like something large was going to happen....whether that was going to be good...or bad....we don't know....As a lawyer, I was pleased that the objections and decisions by the court were pretty accurate.Final verdict? We could all benefit from more productions in this sphere...well done.
