Plot summary

Ted and his family have just moved to the sleepy coastal town of Gull Island so that he can complete work on his thesis. Everything couldn’t seem more picturesque about their new, seaside home… that is, except for the increasing number of aggressively behaving birds.

This was actually a half decent film which I didn't expect because of the bad reviews. It still has some connection to the first film which is nice and has nice acting and great effects for the birds. Whilst there aren't many kills the gore itself is actually alright and has decent characters with the major being similar to the one from jaws. Whilst it can be boring it think this is actually ok.

Although it runs at only 80 minutes, it still feels very inflated, and could have easily been a 40-50 minute movie max. However, this is not as bad as people say. The human drama hits just a little bit more than it misses, and it retains the metaphor (at least one of them) from the 1963 original with it's love themes. When the birds start to become more and more hostile however, that's when the movie gets really good, with all of the scenes they appear working really well and just being very good in general; it's abrupt ending still is quite bad though.

The Birds II: Land's End, gets dogged on

The Birds II: Land's End, gets dogged on a lot, but it's such low-hanging fruit that the criticisms often feels lazy. Sure, it's not up to the standard of the original Hitchcock masterpiece, but c'mon... for a TV movie from the '90s, this is surprisingly decent, offering a watchable, if slightly campy, attempt to revisit the terror of our feathered friends turning against humanity.
