Plot summary

J.K. Simmons gets meds and shock treatment because he's depressed after his wife of 33 years dies of cancer. Resorting to extreme measures like shock treatment for chronic mental illness is one thing, but this man had acute depression from a major life trauma. It's normal to take a very long time to recover from the loss of a long-term spouse or very close friend/relative. Some people never recover from it. This wasn't a great film even before the psychiatrist treated him in this quack fashion. It was a waste of Julie Delpy's talent. Not that it matters, but the film's title is just stupid. The naming of the film shows the same lack of effort that the script often shows.

JK Simmons has one basic character he can

JK Simmons has one basic character he can play with variation off the basic roll they hired him for. This another in the assembling line. The movie trite, formulaic. But even with a formula movie it takes a good script, great sets, backdrops and good acting to deliver the tear jerking scene that puts it over the top. The Bachelors nailed it.
