The Age Of Stupid repeats and rerepeats many of the claims you’ve heard about climate change over the last few decades, but presents it in a stark, impossible to ignore fashion that really catches your attention. The framing device feels mostly pointless, existing mostly to have a famous face and name on the poster. It follow a number of different stories set in various parts of the world, connected by the fact that the individuals involved are either contributing to, or victims of, global warming. The usual jabs are taking at big business, but without any room for counter arguments, though I did like it’s message that its us as individuals making small changes here and there that can often make the biggest difference in the world. Seeing images of flooding, tornados and melting glaciers will never not be profoundly affecting, and The Age Of Stupid reminds us that, as the late Kurt Vonnegut said, we might be the only society to go extinct because saving ourselves wasn’t cost effective.

Calling other opinions stupid is often one of the most stupid actions. This movie is probably one of those. Climate change causing destruction of the planet is far from the science; it is at most a conjecture without much scientific evidence.
