This movie is painful to watch, less because

This movie is painful to watch, less because of the amateurish story and acting, but primarily due to the obvious torment being caused to the live wild animals in it. It is _not_ a film for children today to watch. However, if you want to know one of the reasons why we're in the dire predicament we're now in with the natural world, this movie provides some insight. Ignorance and arrogance abound.

A fairly simple plot which revolved around family

A fairly simple plot which revolved around family encounters with lethal animals. Lots of squeals. For being so isolated they seemed to have a lot of resources. The acting was quite good and the action scenes were fairly impressive & well edited. Interesting to see the young actors in situations that couldn't be filmed today for safety reasons. Also some of the animal fight scenes looked a little too authentic.

I remember seeing this movie as a kid

I remember seeing this movie as a kid with my family back in the 70's. For family entertainment I highly recommend it. Yes it has it's cutesy moments and some cheesy acting, but still find it entertaining after all these years. Today's jaded youth may find it condescending and roll their eyes which is a shame as innocent entertainment seems to be a dinosaur. I also loved Robert Logan's other adventure movie, the Sea Gypsies.
