In 1988, American video game salesman Henk Rogers discovers the video game Tetris. When he sets out to bring the game to the world, he enters a dangerous web of lies and corruption behind the Iron Curtain.
I didn't know the story of Tetris, a game that I liked a lot! I knew that a Russian invented it, but nothing else. I don't know whether this movie depicts the real facts and I don't know the truth behind, but this movie is great! I loved and enjoyed it until the end. A very interesting story that happened close to the end of the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, as usual it's everything about money, and how to make a lot of them. To do that you need to cheat, to steal, to damage, to lie, to manipulate, but some human beings have no remorse on doing that, and they don't care people, just money. It's quite sad, but the world live on money. There are many dialogues in Russian and in Japanese and if you don't know those languages, you need the subtitles to avoid to miss many important things. My rating is 8.5/10.
Are you ready for more Western propaganda? I couldn't make to the half of the movie, and got sick of the usual "USSR is so dark" color palette. The plot summary talks about "corruption behind the Iron Curtain", and through the whole movie we see English, American and Japanese billionaires paying bribes. If a sh1thole country consider bribery a 2-way crimes... Anyways, as a piece of pop-culture this film is something like, "better 2 hours watching it than 2 hours swimming in a frozen river". There's a moment where the "nice guy" says he wants to sell Tetris because he "wants to show to the World that USSR is not only military power". Jesus Christ, how can someone be so stupid?
