Plot summary

Set in the rich Tekken universe, Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D follows Xiaoyu Ling, seasoned martial artist and high school student, tasked by the G Corporation to infiltrate an international school in Kyoto to gather information on the mysterious student Shin Kamiya. Before she can make any progress in the investigation, Shin is kidnapped by an unknown assailant. Digging deeper into Shin’s background in an attempt to rescue him, Xiaoyu learns about the frightening underbelly of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima… and the late Heihachi Mishima’s conspiracy that’s stained with blood.

Whilst this was a lot better than the live action adaption, there are still areas that have a lot left to be desired within its plot.

Blood Vengeance struggles to find a balance between

Blood Vengeance struggles to find a balance between appealing to fans of the fighting games and welcoming newcomers into the franchise whilst also suffering from some really corny voice acting in the English dub and having unnecessary high school drama as part of the plot. The movie being rather boring when there aren't any fancy fighting moves doesn't help. Fortunately, Namco's involvement to prevent the movie from being too disrespectful, okay visuals and great action sequences, including a fantastic melee a trois with the Mishima bloodline, coupled with some incredibly amusing Les Yay between the actual protagonists of the movie make this 90-minute glorified cutscene a suitable time-waster that is still far from one of the worst video game movies out there.

The film takes too long to get going. Most of the time nothing happens. But it is well animated, you have to give it that.
